Not all prefabs are the same; they vary by manufacturing and assembly methods:
Modular Homes: Built in sections (“modules”) that
include wiring, plumbing, and fixtures. Modules are transported and
stacked on-site to form a complete home, often meeting local building
codes as strictly as traditional homes.
Panelized Homes: Made of large panels (wall, floor,
or roof panels) that are assembled on-site like a puzzle. They require
more on-site work than modular homes but less than traditional builds.
Manufactured Homes: Previously called “mobile
homes,” these are built entirely in a factory on a permanent chassis.
They’re transported whole and placed on a foundation, with design
flexibility for single or multi-bedroom layouts.
